Living off the Fat of the Land'

My husband and I have a dream... a dream to farm the family land... or at least part of it.  Matt loves to work with his hands... he is a hard worker by nature and has farming in his blood!  He is very traditional and loyal to his roots.  He dreams of working the soils on his family's land.

The Santa Lucia Highlands bear some of the most beautiful and bountiful acres nestled where the fog caresses the vines and the sun warms the rich soils.
Some of the land that was granted to my husband's ancestors during the 1800 and early 1900 Spanish Land Grants is still owned by our family today.   It was been maintained and utilized to raise beef cattle all these years and more recently portions have been leased to Mondavi, Pisoni and Constellation for vineyard farming.

This is where Matt and I dream to bear fruit of our own.

L I T T L E   B E N C H   V I N E Y A R D   came about in the past few years and we were really close to making it a reality...  we secured a lease on the land and negotiated a partnership with J. Lohr.  We were ready to roll.  In fact Matt was on his tractor on the land getting ready to rip the soils when he got a call letting him know that his family had decided to deny our agreement because they wanted more money.  "Money is the root to all evil."  That is all Matt could say that night, he felt betrayed and was devastated.  We still have hopes that someday another opportunity will arise and we will be bringing our dream to fruition.

"If you dream it... it will come!"
